The Club was founded in 1992. The Charter of the Club sets forth the main areas of the Club's activities: to gather information on Olympians of all generations and to popularise together the Olympic ideas, sports and healthy lifestyle, particularly among the young generation. The Board of the Club consists of nine members:
President
Dr. med. Inese Jaunzeme,
Vice Presidents: Ingrida Amantova, Raimonds Bergmanis,
The Board - Uljana Semjonova, Ivans Klementjevs, Anita Klapote, Vita Matise, Liene Sastapa, Zorzs Tikmers.
Three years ago the International Olympic Committee, pointing out the extremely significant role of environmental protection in the Olympic movement, invited members of Olympians associations to draw attention to the issues of environment protection in various areas.
The immense untidiness of the city's green zones and the problem of household waste, despite of the spring waste-collection bees, was and still remains a topical issue and it has been a reason to choose working in this area.
In 2002 cooperation with students and pupils of Riga started within the framework of the Project Footprints.
In March of 2004 the Latvian Olympians Club joined the Athens Environment Fund Project “Global Olympic Olive Branch” and on 14 and 16 of April a campaign of planting Olympic remembrance trees was held in launched in Riga and Rucava.
Over the last four years the Club has developed and focused its activities in 3 main directions:
Popularisation of healthy and active life style and the Olympic idea among the youth;
Popularisation of environment protection and environmental education;
Gathering information on the members of the Olympians Club and informing of the society on the activities of the outstanding Latvian sportsmen and sportswomen.
